Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison’s premature death was the cause of his excessive lifestyle as the singer of legendary band the Doors. He died in his home in Paris on July 3rd, 1971. He remains one of the greatest singers in music history, and this throughout several generations. Oli- ver Stone’s 1991 movie, Doors, starring Ame- rican Actor Val Kilmer as Morrison is the best proof of this rise to a legend. The Doors had a revival which has never before been seen in music history. The albums were reedited and sold worldwide. Legendary Doors’ frontman Jim Morrison was a poet, and he pretended himself being a shaman. Those phantasies and mental confusions raised him to the rock- olymp. His career started in 1965, as an art student. He then met Ray Manzarek in L.A. at the “University of California”. Jim was looking for a musical companion for his poe- try and found the organ player Manzarek. With guitarist Robbie Krieger and drummer John Desmore the “Doors” were born. Their first album released in January 1967, called “The Doors” made world stars out of Morri- son & Co. Songs like „Break on through (to the other side)“, „Light my fire“ and the co- ver-version of the Brecht/Weill-composition „Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)“ made this al- bum a masterpiece . Almost 50 years after, the magic goes on.
