Janis Joplin
Janis Joplin was one of the most striking white Blues voices in music history. Just like Jim Mor- rison and Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin became a legend of the 60ties and 70ties. She started her career in San Francisco after moving there in 1966 and not in Texas. The very same year she was the sensation at the “Monterey Pop Festival” together with the band “Big Bro- ther & The Holding Company”. After leaving the band, Janis recorded her first album “I Got Dem Ole Kozmic Blues Again, Mama” and hit number 5 of the American charts. Af- ter her appearance at the “Woodstock Music Festival” she rose to be a superstar. However Janis never lived the success of her second al- bum “Pearl”. Only 5 months after the release she died in a room at the Landmark Motels at Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood in October 1970.
