Keith Moon
If one drummer should be categorized as bi- zarre, it would be the Who’s member “Keith Moon” for sure. The beloved drummer of this super group was looking for trouble during his lifetime, sometimes shopping in London dressed like a Nazi on a Saturday afternoon, or making pictures by lying naked on a fur like a baby. He has been posthumously elec- ted “Greatest Rowdy in rock history” by the British music-magazine “Q”. His nickname was “Moon the Loom”. Keith was a very ta- lented musician, without any doubt. In 1975 he released his only solo album called “Two Sides of the Moon”. Superstars like Rin- go Starr, Ex-Turtles-members Flo & Eddie, Mr. Harry Nilsson and Joe Walsh as well as Lovin’ Spoonful-boss John Sebastian were part of this project. Keith was a member of the “Who” from spring 1964, until his early death. During that time success never seemed to stop. His dynamic beats made him one of the most striking drummers of his generation. Keith Moon died on September 8th, 1978 due to an overdose of the tranquilizer “Hemine- vrin”, in order to get rid of his alcohol pro- blems. His successor was Kenney Jones, from the “Small Faces” and “Faces”.
