George Harrison
George Harrison was known as the quiet Beatle. Even though most Beatles titles being written by “Lennon/Mc Cartney”, some of the hits were created by George, classics like „While my guitar gently weeps“, „So- mething“ and „Here comes the sun“. George was also the reason why the Beatles had to leave Germany, while they were playing in Hamburg as one of many unknown groups. George was only 17, and therefore underaged for staying in Germany on his own. Soon af- ter they celebrated his 18th birthday in Li- verpool, the Beatles returned to Hamburg and started their worldwide success. In 1970 after the split of the Fab Four, George Harri- son became a solo star and this with his third solo album “All Things Must Pass” and the single “My sweet Lord”. In 1971 he organized together with Ravi Shankar the “Concert for Bangladesh”. In 1974 he founded hist record label “Dark Horse Records”. In 1988 he was the co-founder and member of the supergroup “Traveling Wilburys”, together with Bob Dy- lan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison. On March 15th, 2004 George was rewarded with “The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire”, he also got elected as a solomusician to „Rock and Roll Hall of Fame“ and on April 14th, 2009 he got his star on the „Hollywood Walk of Fame“. His widow Olivia, his son Dhani and Paul McCartney participated at the ceremony.
