Along with Paul Mc Cartney, John Lennon was one of the greatest songwriters in the mo- dern music history. He is and will be a legend for the eternity. John Lennon was always fi- ghting for a better world, with his music or with actions like the famous “Bed Inn” at the Hilton in Amsterdam in March 1969. Yoko Ono was the strong woman behind a strong man, sometimes a bit too strong for the great musician and sensitive John. But just bla- ming Yoko for the split of the Beatles is incor- rect. They would have split anyway, but due to Yoko it happened a bit earlier. John once said: “Paul Mc Cartney and I were like an old couple. One day all has been said”. Another problem for the Beatles was the loss of their manager Brian Epstein, who died in 1967. Whatever happened, due to John Lennon we got a whole bunch of great music, with the Beatles, the Plastic Ono Band or on his own. Even in the future, generations will be ins- pired by the music of John Lennon and the Beatles. On December 8th, 1980 John Lennon got shot by Mark David Chapman in front of the “Dakota Building” in New York. Only a few hours earlier John signed an autograph to his murderer. Because there is no grave for John, Yoko Ono inaugurated “Strawberry Fields” in New York’s Central Park on Octo- ber 9th, 1985 in memory to John. To honor him, the airport in Liverpool got called “Li- verpool John Lennon airport” 22 years after his death.
