Falco
Johann Hölzel, alias Falco is one of the greatest Austrian musicians of all times, without any doubt. He was the “Mozart“ of pop music, a superstar. He started his career in the seven- ties as a bassist for the band “Drahdiwaberl”. In the 80ties Falco started his solo career, and got his first hit with the song “Der Kommis- sar”. The very same year he had another hit with “Maschine brennt”, but afterwards it be- came quiet for a while. But finally in 1985 he became a super star due to his now classic an- them “Rock me Amadeus”. He was the first ever Austrian musician hitting the top of the American charts. Until the end of the 80ties he used to be present in the international charts. In the 90ties his popularity went down a bit, until a comeback with his song “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da” in 1996. He did not live long enough to see his stardom rise. A few weeks after his tragical death due to a car crash in the Dominican Republic, his song “Out Of the Dark – Into the Light” reached number 5 of the German charts. He became a legend and his songs are still broadcasted all over the world.
